Il y a Longtemps que je t'aime

I know I'm really late but it's definitely better late than never! A film that I've wanted to watch for a long time and finally saw it yesterday in this tiny cinema in West End. And it didn't disappoint.

Il y a Longtemps que j t'aime (I've loved you so long) is a film about the strength of women, their capacity to shine forth, reconstruct themselves and be reborn. A story about family secrets, about confinement, about the isolation that we all share.

Kristin Scott Thomas offers a truly sensational performance (more French than any Frenchies in the movie) in this utterly engrossing and deeply moving tale of two sisters who rebuild their relationship after fifteen years apart. The two women gradually rediscover common ground and how to relate to one another through the memories of their shared childhood, all the while with the spectre of their time apart looming overhead.

There was this bit in the movie that mentioned about reading and through books, one find refuge, find themselves and answers in Life... in fact better than conversing with others. To some extend I can't agreed more but the movie has also shown the importance of opening up your heart and letting people in.

This intelligent and compassionate film is a testament to the power of female love and forgiveness. I'm almost reluctant to put the trailer on as it was an amazing experience to take this journey with the two women as the story unfolds. Go watch!
