Precious

This is definitely one of the most disturbing, heart wrenching & powerful movies I've ever seen... and it has been a while since I last saw one as good as this. I'm placing my bet on Monique winning an Oscar for playing the most real and evil character I've ever seen on screen. Mariah was actually really good! With no make up and even allowed her whole face to be filmed, and I supposed with only 3 scenes in total, she shouldn't really fu*k it up :-)

Go watch! It makes all our problems seem so small and insignificant. Every cloud has a silver lining and there are a lot more unfortunate people than 'we are' out there!

A Single Man

The movie was so stylish that will make you want to rush out and get a brand new wardrobe! Colin was amazing! Deserve an Oscar! Julianne was fabulous as usual... she seems to belong to that era. She was so 'Ad Fab' in her fake English accent! Who wears a white mohair jumper to school?! The whole movie was so Wong Kai Wai. So beautiful but tragic!

What's Up?!

No excuse at all for not blogging for this long! Miss me?! :-)

What have I been up to for the last 3 months? This will sound extremely boring but it was mainly work and trying to juggle the renovation of our new place at the same time.

Dealing with builders, being the bitch for any deviations from our desired design and finishing (D decided to play the good cop so someone have to play the bitch!), coping with living on site and at the same time work is still going on, work trips away and letting the builders on their own accord, it was very stressful at times (I've never swear so much... reminds me of a scene in 'Precious' when Monique was abusing Precious... poor D having to hear all my ranting).

But the end is near! Final stage now with the renovation and we can finally have the place ready hopefully in 2 weeks time (stay tune for the before and after pictures!).

So that's the exciting part. As with the boring part... work. Still don't like it! Call me racist but just can't fathom the work ethics of Indians. I'm sorry but you need a heart of stone and a brain of mud to survive. The randomness and bureaucracy is beyond any body's imaginations. A simple way of putting it... the company completely reflects the state of it's country... Huge, ignorant and chaotic!

Just a taster for now. Promise that it won't be another 3 months before my next entry. I'm still alive, thinking of you and missing you all loads always! xx

Green, Black, Yellow And Red

What a year eh!

A year full of ups and downs, from unemployment, British citizenship, cross road for a career change, new job opportunity, family holidays, ventured into floristry, friends in despair, house hunting, work trips, mum in a robbing incident, holidays with D, a close aunt falling ill, a potential joint venture in floristry, niece turning 21, getting on the property ladder, mortgage & loan, house move, renovating our new place, frustrations and challenges at work, nephew enlistment into army, friends in need and feeling helpless, family Christmas, and now New Year's Eve...

Can only hope the following is true...

'Sis, is there anything we need to do when moving into a new place?'
'Go get Green, Black, Yellow and Red beans. Mix them with rice in a bowl. Sprinkle them in all four corners of the flat. In your heart, wish that all things bad goes and all things good come. Leave them overnight, sweep them up the next day when you move in and chuck them away.'
'Really??'

And so I did exactly that. You should have seen D's face when I was doing it... Classic!

Here wishing all of you the same... All things bad goes with 2009 and all good things come for 2010! Have a great New Year ahead with big smiles!

The Twilight Saga - New Moon

For those who still want to go watch the film, look away now!

I should have known better after falling asleep halfway through the first instalment on a plane (thank goodness I didn't pay £14 for a ticket at the cinema), and going to watch a movie because of a hot guy (Taylor Lautner - though he's worth at least half the ticket price, but taking your top off in a second just to wipe some blood off, was that really necessary?)... Wrong!

Sat through 90 minutes of teen romance and dialogue... It's like watching my young niece's past 'love story' on screen. I felt like jumping out of my seat and shout 'You're only 18! He's going to break your heart and leave you one day soon and you'll go through many other 'romances' and till when you really know WHO YOU ARE, he will somehow appears in front of you. Everything will be alright and nothing of those tedious dramas! Edward is a wimp and he's just playing with you! Get out there and trust me gal, there are more 'Vampires' out there!'

Great writing nevertheless Stephenie. You do know your audience very well. I bet you must have a bunch of teenage kids running around the house and that itself must be horrifying! But what's this no sex before marriage thing?! Come on get real! Stopping the young kids from eating the 'Forbidden Fruit' will only make them want even more. How about trying to teach them to eat slowly and safely?!

Overall, I rather slid my wrist, rub salt over it and let myself bleed to death. D that cost you 3 tokens!

New Chapter

10th December 2009 I became a proud home owner. 8 years of struggling and finally got to this point where I've been dreaming of everyday.

Of course I won't be able to do this without D. It's our first joint purchase and investment. God know what's going to happen but at the moment now we are ecstatic! Was in our humble pad last night sitting in the empty living room sipping Champagne. Toasting to our 'new baby', smiles on our face.

3 months it took from beginning to end when we completed. On average, it was a very smooth process. Builders are going in this Monday to start our 'Grand Design' transformation and we are moving in next Saturday. And yes, we will be living on site while the work is being done, not ideal but it's the only way to keep cost down. The journey is far from over, the next 3 months will be trying (dealing with builders, finalising design detail, living on site) but will be exciting and fun too (picking fixtures & furniture and dressing the place up)! Just can't wait to have everything done!

And oh! Will start taking bookings for the guest room as from January 2010. See you all soon! :-)
